Welcome to the Sheepdog Blog!

The Working Sheepdog Website blog has been bringing news, and sheepdog training advice and articles to farmers, shepherds and would-be sheepdog trials competitors since January 2010.
Since creating the original blog page, we no longer offer sheepdog training courses. Instead, we created over seventy excellent sheepdog training tutorial videos. These have proved very popular with our members. We also invite sheepdog trainers to send us videos of their dog at work so that we can give them an assessment, and offer advice for improvement. The original page or the working sheepdog website blog appears below. At the time, we called it The SheepdogBlog!

The original sheepdogblog…

With all the bad weather we’ve had recently in the UK, we thought it would be good to have a blog so that we can keep people in touch with what’s going on, like sheepdog training courses, the availability of puppies and news from Kings Green Farm, generally. Please keep in touch with us, we’d love to hear from you about border collies and especially sheepdog training.

We’d also value your comments on The Working Sheepdog Website.
Best wishes, Andy and Gill.

Greetings from Australia. We have been watching the training videos avidly since becoming ‘parents’ of a young red kelpie (our third). We thought it would be interesting to see what ‘proper’ training would do and the videos have been a huge help.
Of course our blood pressure was well and truly up when we trawled through the reports on your efforts with just one kelpie! Like any dogs there are just as many differences within the breed as between breeds as you know.
Our kelpie is coming along well with her lessons; she’s very strong, determined and energetic. We would love to send you some photos of her training if you can advise how we may do that. Regards Lesley and Kym Abbott, Eden Valley, South Australia

Thanks Lesley and Kym – good to know you find the training tutorials useful.
I’m glad to hear that your kelpie is coming along well. We’d be very interested to see photos (or even better, video) of her working sheep.
