Bronwen’s gone to a new home in Gloucestershire where she’ll have a much larger flock of sheep to look after It’s difficult to take a bad picture of Bronwen Training and selling sheepdogs is all very well, but, when it comes to selling a dog that you’re very fond of, it can be an extremely difficult decision. Border Collie Sheepdogs Come in Assorted Colours!

We love coloured dogs and we’ve had a few over the years! Yesterday’s post about so-called mis-marked puppies sparked a lot of response, mostly on Facebook and Twitter. Pic of the day – somebody to lean on

Jet usually picks Isla. One of the joys of keeping a group of dogs is to watch the interplay between the various personalities. Who plays with whom, and which dogs completely ignore each other (though entirely without animosity) is endlessly fascinating. Two border collie sheepdogs. One is carrying a very large stick

Stick of the day!

Pic of the (shortest) day – Hurrah!

I don’t think we’ve ever had so much grazing in December. My favourite tree – for how much longer?

This old damson tree is very special to us! This tree has so much character but we fear its days are numbered The field we train the dogs in is an ancient orchard, with many different varieties of apple and pear trees, as well as a few damsons and the odd plum too. Who knows how long this tall, thin … Read More

Kay and Mel – two great thinkers

Kay (left) and Mel relaxing after work. Having great sheepdogs is an honour that I appreciate more and more. Alfie the chihuahua watches the sheepdog training

At last – the Spring weather tempts us to linger outside!

Alfie looks on in disbelief – he really can’t see what’s so difficult about penning a few sheep. Of course, after spending the early part of the year worrying about wet ground and losing our grazing in a sea of mud, we’re … Read More

Finding a Sheepdog Trainer

Bob Lever and “Max the Welsh” watch a sheepdog training session in progress. SKIPTON SHEEPDOG SALE – To buy . . . or not to buy . . .

We very rarely go to auctions – when it comes to sheepdogs we both suffer from ‘twitching arm’ syndrome, so it’s the only way we can restrict ourselves – but I’m always interested to read the reports afterwards. It seems that every Skipton sale sets a new record that can’t be entirely explained by inflation. February’s record dog, the tri-coloured … Read More
Gorgeous young sheepdog, Midge lying on the ground looking over her shoulder
