Now our tutorials are easier to watch if you have slow broadband or mobile signal.
If you live or work in the countryside, there’s a good chance you’ll know that rural broadband and mobile coverage can be especially poor. So, we’ve changed the format of our online sheepdog training videos to accommodate slow broadband.
Our latest player can detect the signal strength you have. It will serve a high or lower quality video to give you the best picture for your reception at the time, even if you have slow broadband.
Automatic quality selection to suit fast or slow broadband signal
The screenshot of Kelpie Tucker (above) shows the controls on our video player. The default is automatic, so that the player selects the video quality for you. However, if you have slow broadband or mobile signal you can choose your own setting. You can do this by clicking the icon at the bottom right of the screen if you want to.
You will also see controls for starting and stopping the video. There is also a button to rewind the player by ten seconds. The full screen option is in the top right corner. You can also choose English, French or Spanish subtitles via the CC control.
Whatever quality settings you choose, your player will automatically select the same quality for each tutorial, until you change it, even if on slow broadband.
How can you be sure this will work for you?
If you haven’t previously been able to watch the training videos due to slow broadband, try the preview first. You’ll find it at the bottom of this page. If the preview runs smoothly, the tutorials will run smoothly too. This is because they are formatted in exactly the same way as the tutorials.
Tutorials are available to paid subscribers who are logged into their account. Paid membership gives you access to all the tutorials, as often as you wish. You also get instant access to any new tutorials as soon as they appear on the website.
As a paid subscriber you can post questions on the tutorials pages. You can even send us short videos of your dog working (or not) if you run up against a specific problem.
